The French company Renault announced this Tuesday that its Chief Financial Officer, Thierry Pieton, will leave the position on February 28, to be replaced by Duncan Minto, the current CFO of Alpine, starting March 1.
Pieton, who took over as CFO of Renault in 2023, leaves the company in a better financial position than when he assumed the role. Pieton’s surprising departure comes at a time when the Renault Group has just completed a restructuring and a review of its strategy following record losses in 2020.
Duncan Minto joined Renault in 1997 and has held various positions within the group before becoming CFO of Alpine in October 2023.
The French company reported sales growth over the past two years, surpassing its largest European rival, VW, in 2024, with a slight increase in volumes, although Renault faces a challenging market this year, with stricter carbon emission regulations in the European Union, its largest market.
