A Mercedes-Benz may be preparing to bring back the S-Class Coupe, this time in AMG and Maybach configurations.
First seen by “Car and Driver”, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) registration shows coupe versions of the current generation of the S-Class, internally known as W223.
Mercedes discontinued the coupe body style with the introduction of the new S-Class, launched in 2021, and the patents now revealed show what appears to be a Maybach variant of the S-Class, featuring the traditional two-tone paint of the luxury versions of the German brand, as well as multi-spoke wheels, a split rear window, and the Maybach logo on the hood and trunk lid.
The other patent refers to a Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance, featuring a more muscular-shaped bumper and a rear marked by four exhaust tips. Additionally, this patent reveals the V8 Biturbo E Performance logo and an AMG emblem on the trunk lid.
It is not certain that these patents now revealed will result in future production models. However, these registration requests seem to suggest that Mercedes may be preparing an update for its S-Class soon, and that a coupe version could become a reality again.
