Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing (WTR) has confirmed that Alex Lynn will miss the 2025 Rolex 24 at Daytona after falling ill with a virus. The British driver was slated to compete in the team’s No. 40 V-Series.R but will now sit out the season opener of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Lynn’s absence and replacement lineup

Lynn, who also drives full-time for Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA in the FIA World Endurance Championship, was part of Cadillac WTR’s Endurance Cup lineup. In his absence, the team will rely on a formidable trio of Jordan Taylor, Louis Deletraz, and Kamui Kobayashi to contest the prestigious 24-hour race at Daytona.

In a statement, the team expressed their well-wishes for Lynn’s recovery:

“Cadillac Racing and Wayne Taylor Racing wish Alex a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Cadillac.”

A blow for Lynn and Cadillac’s plans

Lynn’s absence is a significant setback for Cadillac WTR, as his experience and skill in endurance racing have been instrumental to their success. Having previously competed at the highest levels in both IMSA and the FIA WEC, Lynn’s absence shifts additional responsibility onto his teammates for the Rolex 24.

However, the lineup of Taylor, Deletraz, and Kobayashi remains one of the strongest in the field.

  • Jordan Taylor: A seasoned endurance racer with multiple Rolex 24 victories.
  • Louis Deletraz: A rising star in sports car racing, known for his consistency and speed.
  • Kamui Kobayashi: A Le Mans-winning driver and endurance racing veteran with a reputation for delivering under pressure.

Looking ahead

Cadillac WTR will now turn its focus to the Daytona race with a revised strategy and a strong core lineup. For Lynn, all eyes are on the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, where he is expected to make his return to the cockpit.

As the 2025 endurance racing season gets underway, Cadillac’s resilience will be tested, but the team remains well-positioned to contend for victory at Daytona despite the unforeseen change.
