Verstappen Shuts Down Norris Feud: ‘No Time for Trash Talk, Let’s Focus on 2025’

The battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris may have dominated headlines in the 2024 Formula 1 season, but Verstappen isn’t about to let the noise distract him. The four-time world champion has refused to engage in a public war of words after Norris dismissed Verstappen’s claim that he could have secured the championship even faster if he had been driving McLaren’s MCL38.

Verstappen: “The Championship Is Done”

Despite Verstappen clinching his fourth consecutive title with two races to spare, the road wasn’t smooth for Red Bull. Mid-season updates to the RB20 disrupted the car’s balance, opening the door for McLaren to snatch the Constructors’ Championship. Yet, Verstappen’s clinical consistency kept him ahead of the pack, including ex-teammate Sergio Perez, whom he outscored by a staggering 285 points.

Asked about Norris’ response to his comments, Verstappen stayed cool under pressure.
“I know perfectly well for myself what I can and cannot do,” Verstappen told reporters. “We don’t need to talk about that. The championship is done. We try again next year.”

A Friendship Tested by Fire

Verstappen and Norris have maintained a friendly relationship since Norris entered Formula 1 in 2019, but their camaraderie has been tested by the heated battles on track. Numerous clashes in 2024, fueled by McLaren’s resurgence, led to speculation that their off-track bond might be strained.

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has warned that the rivalry could escalate further in 2025. “Their friendship will come under even greater pressure next season,” Horner predicted, alluding to what could be another blockbuster championship duel.

Social Media Noise: “A Lot of Idiots”

Verstappen also addressed the relentless chatter on social media, dismissing the online storm that often magnifies rivalries.
“There are a lot of idiots on that platform,” Verstappen said on Red Bull’s Talking Bulls podcast. “People always make it a lot worse. But Lando and I, we get on very well. On track, it gets tense—that’s normal when fighting for a World Championship. But off track? We’re good.”

2025: The Rivalry to Watch

With Red Bull aiming to reclaim dominance and McLaren determined to build on its Constructors’ triumph, the Verstappen-Norris rivalry is set to hit new heights. Fans are bracing for another dramatic season as these two titans of the track battle for supremacy.

While Norris may have the McLaren machinery and Verstappen the Red Bull resilience, one thing is certain: the championship showdown in 2025 promises to deliver fireworks, both on and off the track.
