Max Verstappen, the four-time Formula 1 World Champion, has dropped intriguing hints about his long-term plans that extend far beyond the world of F1. Despite being under contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of 2028, the 27-year-old Dutch driver appears to be laying the groundwork for an eventual exit from the sport, fueling speculation about his next big move.

Keeping All Options Open: Talks Beyond F1

Verstappen revealed in a candid interview that he has already held discussions with major motorsport powerhouses like Mercedes, Ferrari, and Aston Martin. However, he clarified that these conversations weren’t solely focused on Formula 1, suggesting broader ambitions that could involve other forms of racing—or even ventures outside motorsport.

“A lot of teams—Mercedes, Ferrari, Aston Martin—it’s not even related to F1 itself,” Verstappen shared.

Red Bull Racing, Verstappen’s home since 2016, has long been a hub of motorsport innovation beyond Formula 1, and Verstappen acknowledged their diverse projects. His openness to exploring other opportunities suggests that when the time comes, his departure from Formula 1 might be on his own terms.

“Red Bull, of course, also do a lot outside F1. I keep all the options open, and in the end, I choose what I think is best,” Verstappen added.

Ambitions Beyond Formula 1

Known for his competitive spirit and versatile skills, Verstappen has previously expressed a strong interest in endurance racing and sim racing. The Dutchman revealed that he has concrete plans to step into endurance motorsport, potentially running his own team in the process.

“I have several goals after Formula 1, such as endurance and my own team. A lot of things come into play, and eventually, there has to be a program,” he stated.

Verstappen’s passion for racing isn’t confined to Formula 1 alone. His dominance on the grid has solidified his legacy, but the idea of competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans or other marquee events could mark the next chapter in his illustrious career.

The Clock Is Ticking on Verstappen’s F1 Timeline

Unlike other legends who extended their careers into their 40s, Verstappen has made it clear that he has no intention of racing in Formula 1 for the long haul. With his contract set to expire in 2028, fans and analysts alike are left wondering how much more time Verstappen will dedicate to the pinnacle of motorsport.

For now, Verstappen’s focus remains on extending his dominance with Red Bull. However, his acknowledgment of a larger picture—one that includes endurance racing, team ownership, and perhaps ventures we haven’t yet imagined—indicates a deliberate strategy for life beyond the grid.

What Lies Ahead?

Max Verstappen’s comments are a glimpse into the mind of a driver who refuses to be boxed in by the boundaries of one discipline. Whether he continues to shatter records in Formula 1, transitions to the world of endurance racing, or takes the entrepreneurial leap into team ownership, Verstappen’s next moves promise to be as impactful as his F1 career.

For now, fans can relish Verstappen’s mastery on the grid, knowing that the Dutch phenom is already gearing up for a thrilling second act. The 2025 and 2026 seasons are bound to be pivotal, not only for his title ambitions but also for setting the stage for what comes next.
