The Tesla Model Y is set to lose the title of the best-selling car of 2023 in Europe to the Dacia Sandero, unless Elon Musk’s brand manages a “miracle” in the final month of 2024.
The Dacia Sandero is the sales leader in Europe for November and for the total of 11 months, with 21,506 units sold, followed by the VW Tiguan, with 18,618. These positions are based on preliminary figures from Dataforce.
Meanwhile, the Tesla Model Y holds the sixth position with 181,781 sales. This means it has a gap of 65,000 units to reach the leadership currently held by the Dacia Sandero.
It is worth noting that in 2023, the Model Y was the most sold model in Europe, becoming the first electric car to achieve this. Although it held its position for several months last year, the end-of-year results were very close to those of the Dacia Sandero, which has a competitive price of €12,000.
Still, Tesla has historically offered significant incentives to boost sales at the end of the year. This includes a year of free Supercharging for Model Y buyers in Europe who purchase a vehicle before December 31.
