Brad Keselowski, RFK Racing co-owner and driver, recently shared a snapshot of his off-season skiing adventure, bringing smiles to fans but also stirring reminders of Chase Elliott’s infamous snowboarding accident in 2023. Keselowski, fresh off a mixed 2024 NASCAR season, is making the most of his break while preparing for a pivotal 2025 campaign.


Fans Draw Parallels to Chase Elliott’s Accident

Keselowski’s Instagram post, featuring him skiing with his child, was captioned:

“Making the most of the offseason.”

While many admired the wholesome family moment, others couldn’t help but recall the incident that derailed Chase Elliott’s 2023 season. Elliott, an experienced snowboarder, suffered a serious leg injury while snowboarding in Colorado, forcing him to miss six races and ultimately finish 17th in the championship standings.

The parallels between Keselowski’s skiing and Elliott’s snowboarding mishap were enough to ignite fan chatter about the risks NASCAR drivers take during their downtime.


Elliott’s Experience Highlights the Risks

Elliott’s injury wasn’t the result of reckless behavior but rather an unfortunate accident. Reflecting on the incident, Elliott told ESPN:

“I wasn’t out doing anything wild or crazy. I don’t have a cool story to tell… The accident could have happened tripping down stairs or on a jog.”

Despite the setback, Elliott defended his love for snowboarding, citing it as a valuable training tool. His resilience and determination to return stronger underscored his commitment to balancing personal passions with professional responsibilities.


RFK Racing’s 2025 Challenges

For Keselowski and RFK Racing, the 2025 season is shaping up to be a critical year. The team will expand to three charters, with Ryan Preece joining Keselowski and Chris Buescher. However, managing this expansion while maintaining performance levels presents a significant challenge.

RFK showed promise in 2024, with Keselowski earning his first win since 2021 and Buescher securing a victory at Watkins Glen. However, inconsistency plagued the team in the latter half of the season, resulting in Keselowski finishing 13th and Buescher 17th in the standings.

Scott Graves, RFK’s crew chief, emphasized the stakes:

“It’s a big challenge… [The third team] shouldn’t be something that slows you down but something you can build on to keep our performance going.”


What’s Next for RFK and Ryan Preece?

Ryan Preece’s addition to RFK Racing brings both potential and pressure. Preece struggled in 2024 with Stewart-Haas Racing, finishing 26th in the standings with only one top-5 result. For RFK, ensuring Preece adapts quickly and contributes to the team’s goals will be crucial.

Meanwhile, Keselowski’s role as both driver and co-owner adds another layer of responsibility. His leadership will be instrumental in navigating the challenges posed by the team’s expansion and delivering results on the track.

Keselowski’s skiing adventure serves as a reminder of the delicate balance NASCAR drivers must strike between enjoying their off-season and mitigating risks. With RFK Racing’s ambitious plans for 2025, Keselowski’s ability to lead by example—both on and off the track—will be pivotal.
