The 2025 Formula 1 entry list was published this Friday, featuring a surprise: VCARB (Racing Bulls) has one seat open, not confirming Liam Lawson or any other driver to partner Yuki Tsunoda.

At the same time, Red Bull has listed Sergio Pérez. The Mexican driver renewed his contract in June until 2026, but his poor results have raised doubts about his continuity – so much so that team principal Christian Horner stated on the championship website that Lawson or Tsunoda could replace Pérez if he leaves.

Lawson, called in to replace Daniel Ricciardo from the United States Grand Prix onwards, delivered a strong performance, scoring four points – only five fewer than Tsunoda over the same period. For this reason, it seemed logical for his spot at VCARB to be confirmed quickly, especially since the alternative, Isack Hadjar, did not win the Formula 2 championship.

Elsewhere, the entry list held no surprises, but it did reveal the numbers to be used by the announced rookies, with two historic numbers making a return. Gabriel Bortoleto (Kick Sauber/Ferrari) will use #5, most recently associated with Sebastian Vettel, while Jack Doohan (Alpine) will take #7, previously used by Kimi Räikkönen until 2021. Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) will wear #12, and Oliver Bearman (Haas/Ferrari) will use #87.
