The American auction company, Broad Arrow Auctions, has announced that it will auction a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider at an event taking place in Florida on March 7 and 8, 2025.
The company estimates that the Ferrari model could reach a value between $10 million and $14 million. The 250 GT LWB California Spider Competizione being auctioned is the second of only eight examples produced by the Maranello factory with aluminum bodywork, boasting a glorious history at Le Mans.
This model is the first California Spider factory-equipped with the Type 128 F competition specification engine, with its construction completed on June 15, 1959, just five days before the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1959, where it was promoted by NART under Luigi Chinetti, driven by its first owner, American car dealer and gentleman racer Robert “Bob” Grossman, along with co-driver Fernand Tavano.
The rushed finish did not prevent Grossman from achieving the most successful result for a 250 GT California Spider in competition, securing an impressive fifth place overall and third in the GT Class at Le Mans.
