Mercedes-AMG has revealed the first image of the prototype that anticipates a 100% electric coupe-style sports SUV that will hit the market next year.
The sports division of Mercedes has announced that the first prototypes of the new model, which will be the second vehicle built on the fully electric AMG.EA architecture, have begun testing in cold weather.
The revealed image of the new sports SUV from Affalterbach shows the new 100% electric model with traditional camouflage; however, it is visible that it features smooth and rounded lines and a quite low silhouette for an SUV.
It is already known that the new 100% electric model from AMG, based on the new AMG.EA platform, will be equipped with four axial-flow electric motors developed by the British company Yasa, along with 800 V electrical components, as well as a specific AMG battery using a silicon anode, which will have an energy density 40% higher than current models.
The new sports SUV from Mercedes-AMG is expected to deliver over 1000 hp, all-wheel drive, and advanced torque vectoring capabilities, in addition to active suspension.
Mercedes-AMG has also revealed that the high-performance electric SUV is now starting its first performance tests in Sweden, where it will be put to the test at extreme temperatures near the Arctic Circle.
