A BMW M is preparing to launch its first 100% electric model, which will mark the beginning of a new era for the brand’s sports division in Munich.
Anticipating the arrival of the BMW M electric, a new series of videos on YouTube showcases behind-the-scenes development of the new model, as well as the first prototypes of the BMW M and the discussion surrounding the powertrain, which will consist of four electric motors.
The newly revealed video shows that one of the first 100% electric prototypes was based on the previous generation of the BMW M2. However, the star of the video is indeed the BMW M prototype that has been used in testing since 2022, based on the i4 and featuring several components from the M3 and M4, with special camouflage, equipped with four electric motors with advanced torque vectoring functions, and showcasing a heavily reinforced chassis with customized front and rear substructures.
The brand does not provide details about the battery that will power the four electric motors, and what is known is that BMW is preparing a new generation of batteries that will equip the new electric models, Neue Klasse, and these may potentially be used in the new BMW M.
Remember that the CEO of BMW M, Frank van Meel, recently hinted that the new high-performance model will “win everything,” and that it will have a power output of one megawatt, which is 1341 hp, and will feature unique battery chemistry and cooling, internally designed electric motors, an 800-volt architecture, and special software to manage all of this.
