Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc., a cornerstone in innovation and education, has extended its Official Partnership with IMSA (International Motor Sports Association), taking its collaboration to a groundbreaking new level. As part of the renewed agreement, Konica Minolta will power IMSA’s STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education initiative for high school students, providing an unparalleled hands-on learning experience tied directly to the thrilling world of motorsports.
A Business-Driven Hub with a Mission for Learning
The Konica Minolta Business Center—already a vital hub of operations within IMSA’s paddock—will now serve as the epicenter of an ambitious STEM program designed to inspire the next generation of innovators. Students from select race markets will have the opportunity to dive into immersive STEM experiences, hearing firsthand from team engineers, drivers, and corporate leaders while exploring race control and IMSA’s cutting-edge Technology Center.
“The IMSA racing circuit provides students with real-world, high-intensity examples of STEM,” said Michael Mathé, Chief Operating Officer of Konica Minolta.
“This partnership aligns seamlessly with our work in education, offering students a comprehensive look at how STEM drives innovation both in the classroom and on the racetrack.”
Revolutionizing STEM Education
The program, developed in partnership with EVERFI, leverages interactive, game-based learning modules to bridge classroom concepts with real-world motorsports applications. Focusing on careers in engineering, mechanics, and technology, the curriculum positions IMSA as a dynamic gateway to STEM, emphasizing the hands-on, high-pressure scenarios intrinsic to the sport.
EVERFI’s platform is already a trusted resource for over 60,000 teachers and schools, ensuring the program will reach students from all backgrounds at no cost.
“Introducing IMSA to the next generation of leaders has been a lifelong passion,” said John Doonan, IMSA President.
“With Konica Minolta’s partnership, we’re marrying their education expertise with our motorsports platform to inspire and educate young minds.”
The 2025 Kickoff: Rolex 24 at Daytona
The inaugural IMSA STEM experience will take place at the prestigious Rolex 24 At Daytona in January 2025. This legendary race will serve as the launchpad for what promises to be a transformative initiative, with more race markets and details to follow.
Why It Matters
By weaving STEM education into the fast-paced, cutting-edge world of motorsports, IMSA and Konica Minolta are not only preparing students for careers in technology and engineering but also ensuring the sustainability of the sport by fostering a new generation of enthusiasts and professionals.
“We’re not just teaching STEM—we’re showing how these concepts fuel innovation in real-time,” Mathé added.
“It’s education, inspiration, and adrenaline, all rolled into one.”
