Skoda já produziu o milionésimo sistema de baterias para a plataforma MEB

Skoda Auto has announced that it has produced its one-millionth battery system for electric vehicles from the VW Group, manufactured based on the Modular Electric Drive Platform (MEB), at its main factory in Mladá Boleslav.

The Czech brand has been manufacturing high-voltage batteries since 2019, when it began production of batteries for the Superb iV with a plug-in hybrid system. Currently, the company focuses exclusively on producing larger batteries for fully electric vehicles based on the MEB platform.

To achieve this, the Mladá Boleslav factory has two assembly lines that produce 1,500 units daily, which according to Skoda means that a battery for MEB platform-based models is completed every 60 seconds.

These lithium-ion batteries feature a modular design, allowing for the production of a wide range of high-voltage batteries. They consist of 8 to 13 modules with 16 to 26 cells, offering a capacity of 55 to 91 kWh (net capacity: 52 to 86 kWh), and are installed in the Enyaq and Elroq, as well as in other vehicles from the VW Group brands, including models from VW, Seat, Cupra, and Audi.

“Reaching the milestone of one million battery systems produced by Skoda Auto for vehicles of the VW Group is a testament to our team’s dedication and the close collaboration between the different brands. This achievement also underscores our commitment to sustainable mobility and our contribution to driving the industry’s transformation towards a greener future. With determination, we are now taking the next steps: the construction of a new battery systems production unit in Mladá Boleslav is already underway.”, said Andreas Dick, member of the Board of Directors of Skoda Auto for Production and Logistics, in a statement.
