Fábrica da Ford no Reino Unido inicia produção do motor elétrico do Puma Gen-E

Ford has announced that the Halewood factory in the UK has reached a significant milestone with the start of production of new electric motors that will equip the Puma Gen-E and the Transit Custom.

The Halewood facility has been revamped to become Ford’s first electric components unit in Europe, prompting the American brand to invest £380 million (approximately €450 million) to transform it into a state-of-the-art production site.

With this investment, Ford has revealed that the factory now has the capacity to produce 420,000 electric propulsion units annually, thus significantly contributing to Ford’s ambitious electrification goals.

By 2025, Ford will have nine electric vehicles on the roads in Europe. The newly unveiled Puma Gen-E joins the Explorer, Capri, Mustang Mach-E, and E-Tourneo Courier to complete the brand’s lineup of electric cars in Europe, along with the commercial vehicles E-Transit, E-Transit Courier, E-Transit Custom, and E-Tourneo Custom provided by Ford Pro.

Remember that the 100% electric Puma Gen-E features a single electric motor mounted on the front axle, producing 166 hp and 290 Nm of torque, which allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds. The electric motor is powered by a 43 kWh battery, which claims a range of up to 376 km and up to 523 km in urban cycle.
