Dedicated to honoring heritage and boosting modern performance, the British tuner Boreham Motorworks has announced that it will unveil the new Ford Escort Mk1 on December 12.

As the “only true descendant” of the RS lineage, the new Ford Escort Mk1 from Boreham draws inspiration from the design and performance of each high-performance variant of the Escort Mk1 released in Europe that dominated the motorsport world.

The new version of the Mk1 will not be 100% electric or hybrid, as the British tuner has made it clear that the model will use only gasoline engines and manual transmission, arguing that “our heritage guides us, and our future insists on it. We will not forget our heritage; we will maintain and continue our legacy”, stated Boreham Motorworks in a press release.

It is worth noting that the Escort MK1 was revealed in the late 1960s and quickly became a success in motorsport, with its suspension geometry providing exceptional agility on both dirt and tarmac.

In addition to reviving the Mk1, Boreham has also announced plans to “resurrect” the powerful Ford RS200 that competed in the Group B World Rally Championship, but now in a version adapted for any public road.

The sporty RS200 with all-wheel drive was equipped with a 1.8-liter engine that produced 250 hp and 292 Nm of torque, which were transmitted to all four wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

However, the new version of the Ford RS200 from Boreham Motorworks will only be unveiled in 2025.
