Renovado BYD Tang: um SUV elétrico para a família

BYD has introduced the revamped Tang in Portugal, a premium 100% electric SUV with 7 seats, premium features, and a practical and versatile character, making it an appealing model for families.

The largest SUV in the Chinese brand’s lineup is equipped with two electric motors, one at the front that develops 180 kW (241 hp), and another mounted at the

rear that contributes 200 kW (268 hp) for a combined power of 380 kW (517 hp), and a total torque of 700 Nm. These figures allow for an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

Powering the two electric motors is the new Blade Battery with a capacity of 108.8 kWh, which features a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode and 24 individual modules of liquid-cooled cells, each with a longitudinal profile similar to a blade. This patented design enhances durability, longevity, charging performance, and thermal stability under varying weather and operational conditions.

The battery allows for fast DC charging up to 170 kW and promises a range of up to 530 km in the combined WLTP cycle.

BYD has also revealed that the inclusion of a standard heat pump increases the thermal efficiency of the battery by up to 20%. Additionally, it allows for significant energy savings of up to 40% during the heating of the interior. This leads to a 10% increase in overall range compared to a conventional heating element with a positive temperature coefficient.

Measuring 4.97 meters in length, 1.95 meters in width, and 1.74 meters in height, the revamped BYD Tang features an exterior that has been significantly redesigned, introducing the latest generation of the brand’s “Dragon Face” design language, blending time-honored Eastern elements with surprisingly modern Western suggestions to give it a highly contemporary appearance.

The front showcases new angular full-LED headlights, with the BYD logo centrally positioned beneath the metallic strip that defines the brand image. The windows are integrated into an elongated profile, tinted at the rear and framed with brushed aluminum, providing a dynamic silhouette. This is further accentuated by the subtly sloped roofline, which comes with integrated roof rails as standard.

The rear door houses a three-dimensional taillight that wraps around the sides, emphasizing the width and providing unmistakable nighttime brightness.

The cabin offers ample space for up to seven occupants across three rows of seats. In the third row, the seats can be arranged individually on the floor, while the second-row seat is divided into two parts and can be folded in a 60:40 configuration, which facilitates increasing the trunk capacity from 235 to 1655 liters, with the third and second-row seats folded down. In the five-seat configuration, the trunk provides a space of 940 liters, which BYD claims is a benchmark in its class.

Comfort is also prioritized through the availability of several easily accessible storage compartments, a pair of large cup holders in the center console, multiple USB-C ports, and a wireless charging pad that can accommodate several smartphones with a charging rate of up to 50W.

Also noteworthy is BYD’s intelligent cockpit system, featuring a digital instrument panel with a 12.3’’ screen, alongside an infotainment system that includes climate control settings, with a centrally mounted 15.6’’ rotating touchscreen.

The intelligent cockpit system also offers standard 4G connectivity on board, integrated applications including Spotify and HERE navigation, smartphone integration via Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, and a Smart Voice Assistant activated by the command “Hi BYD.”

The refreshed Tang is also equipped with a standard LED ambient lighting system that offers a selection of 31 different color configurations, and a Dynaudio surround sound system with 12 speakers.

In terms of driver assistance systems, the list is extensive, highlighting the internally developed Level 2 autonomous driving system, which uses 18 different sensors, including 8 ultrasonic radars, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 4 surround view cameras, and a high-perception camera mounted on the windshield.

To facilitate maneuvers during parking and city driving, the refreshed Tang comes standard with a panoramic camera system. This system combines images from the four cameras of the Intelligent Driving Assistance System to provide real-time 360-degree panoramic images on the infotainment screen.

BYD has already announced that the refreshed Tang is available on the national market in the Flagship version, with a price starting at €61,056 plus VAT.
