Max Verstappen Fires Back at Zak Brown After Clinching Fourth World Title -“winning in fastest car”

Max Verstappen silenced critics in spectacular fashion after winning his fourth Formula 1 World Championship at the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix, delivering a pointed rebuttal to McLaren CEO Zak Brown’s past remarks about his capabilities. Despite a season plagued by Red Bull’s mid-year performance slump, Verstappen proved his mettle by grinding out results and maintaining his championship lead, securing his place among F1’s greatest.

“Zak Brown’s Words Come Back to Haunt Him”

Zak Brown, known for his candid commentary, previously suggested that Verstappen could only win titles in the fastest car—a statement that raised eyebrows across the paddock. However, 2024 provided a very different narrative, as Red Bull struggled to provide Verstappen with a dominant car, particularly during the season’s second half.

After clinching the title, Verstappen made sure to remind Brown of his earlier comments. During a congratulatory exchange, the Dutchman humorously referenced Brown’s remarks:

“And like you said, you know, before I could only win it in the fastest car! This year it’s been a little bit different!” Verstappen quipped with a smirk.

The interaction went viral, highlighting Verstappen’s ability to succeed under challenging circumstances.

“A Champion in Adversity”

The 2024 season was far from smooth sailing for Verstappen. Red Bull’s struggles with car balance and performance mid-season allowed rivals Ferrari and McLaren to close the gap. Yet, Verstappen remained unflappable, showcasing exceptional consistency and determination. His heroic Brazilian GP victory from P17 on the grid epitomized his resilience and ability to capitalize on every opportunity.

“Just staying calm and working with the team back at the factory. We work well and rarely make mistakes,” Verstappen reflected when asked about the key to his success.

“Red Bull’s Constructors’ Challenge in Jeopardy”

While Verstappen’s drivers’ title is secured, the Constructors’ Championship remains up for grabs. Ferrari and McLaren are locked in a fierce battle for the top spot, leaving Red Bull in a distant third. Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, has struggled to contribute significantly to the points tally, further complicating Red Bull’s campaign.

Despite the challenges, Verstappen remains focused on finishing the season strong, aiming to assist his team in closing the gap in the final two races.

“Legacy Cemented”

Max Verstappen’s fourth title not only solidifies his status as one of Formula 1’s elite but also serves as a testament to his versatility and perseverance. In a season where he couldn’t rely on having the fastest car, the Dutchman’s ability to consistently deliver results underlined why he’s regarded as a generational talent.

As for Zak Brown, Verstappen’s performance this year stands as the ultimate rebuttal, proving that greatness transcends machinery. With his sharp dig and championship triumph, Verstappen reminded the world—and Brown—why he’s a force to be reckoned with in Formula 1.
