Hines Ward Possible Steelers Candidate After Coaching Staff Change.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward is being considered as a potential candidate for the team’s next wide receiver’s coach. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently reported that the Steelers are parting ways with current wide receivers coach Frisman Jackson. This change has led to speculation that Ward could be a suitable replacement for Jackson. Ward has previous experience with the Steelers, serving as an offensive intern in 2017. He has also worked as an offensive assistant for the New York Jets and as a wide receivers coach at FAU. Ward’s name has been mentioned by multiple sources as a possible choice for the position.

Despite the coaching staff changes, it is unlikely that there will be a major overhaul of Pittsburgh’s offensive coaching staff. This is especially true with the addition of new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. However, some adjustments are expected to be made. The Steelers’ receivers had some inconsistencies in their performance during the 2023 season, which may have contributed to the decision to replace Jackson. Both George Pickens and Diontae Johnson, the team’s top two wideouts, displayed effort issues at times. It is crucial for the team to address these concerns and ensure that their wide receivers are performing at their best.

Jackson has previous experience coaching in the NFL, having worked with the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers before joining the Steelers. However, his coaching experience is more extensive at the college level. He has coached wide receivers at various universities, including Western Illinois, Akron, Northern Illinois, NC State, and Temple. During his time at Temple, he also served as the program’s passing game coordinator.

As the Steelers search for a new wide receiver’s coach, Hines Ward has emerged as a popular candidate. His experience as a former Steelers wide receiver and his previous coaching roles make him a strong contender for the position. The team will likely consider his qualifications and potential contributions to the development of their wide receiver corps.

STEELERS EYEING POSSIBLE REUNION WITH NFL LEGEND

In a surprising turn of events, the Pittsburgh Steelers are considering a reunion with former wide receiver Hines Ward. With a vacancy at the wide receivers coach position, the question on everyone’s mind is whether Ward will return to the team where he made a name for himself.

After a successful 14-year NFL career, Ward ventured into various fields. He dabbled in sports analysis as an NBC Sports analyst and even tried his hand at the restaurant business. However, it seems that coaching is where his true passion lies.

Ward first entered the coaching world in 2017, joining the Steelers as an offensive assistant. He then moved on to the New York Jets for a brief stint before taking on the role of wide receivers coach at Florida Atlantic in 2021. While it’s hard to predict how effective Ward will be in this new role, there’s no denying his popularity and success as a player.

Ward’s name is etched in Steelers history, holding records for most receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He even earned the coveted MVP title for his outstanding performance in the Super Bowl after the 2005 season. Interestingly, the 18th anniversary of that game recently passed on February 5.

As the Steelers weigh their options for the wide receivers coach position, it’s clear that Ward’s impressive playing career makes him a top contender. Only time will tell if this potential reunion becomes a reality, but fans are undoubtedly excited about the possibility of seeing Ward back on the sidelines where he belongs.
