Bulls’ 2-Time All-Star on the Trade Block!

Chicago Bulls Head Coach Billy Donovan could be facing a major change in strategy as the team adjusts to the loss of two-time All-Star Zach LaVine for the season. While trade talks with the Detroit Pistons have stalled, there is potential for a different two-time All-Star to be on the move as the trade deadline approaches. Center Andre Drummond, who has drawn interest from the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns, could be a viable trade option for the Bulls.

Drummond, 29, has garnered attention from various teams, including the Rockets before they traded for Steven Adams. Both the Celtics and the Suns are new contenders for Drummond, who still sees himself as a starter. The Lakers’ interest in the four-time rebounding champion is not surprising, as they previously considered trading for him in anticipation of a playoff series against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. It’s worth noting that Drummond previously spent the 2021 season with the Lakers, along with Bulls guard Alex Caruso.

In a surprising turn of events, Drummond chose to exercise his $3.4 million player option to stay with the Bulls, despite expectations that he would join the Mavericks. However, Dallas currently does not have an opening at center, which may have influenced Drummond’s decision. This season, Drummond is averaging 7.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals. In his seven starts, he has averaged 14.0 points and an impressive 17.4 rebounds. The Bulls run the risk of losing Drummond for nothing if they don’t find a suitable trade.

The Bulls made a significant move in the offseason by signing Nikola Vucevic to a three-year, $60 million contract. While the decision to re-sign Vucevic was met with some skepticism, his passing and defensive rebounding skills have become crucial for the team. However, when comparing value to Drummond, questions arise about the Bulls’ decision-making.

As the trade deadline looms, the Bulls will need to reassess their stance on trading LaVine and consider the potential trade options for Drummond. The team’s future may depend on making the right moves to strengthen their roster and maximize their chances of success.

Vucevic’s Trade Value Questioned as Bulls Stand Pat

Nikola Vucevic’s future with the Chicago Bulls seems uncertain as the NBA trade deadline approaches. According to NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson, there doesn’t appear to be much interest in the center. Johnson also mentioned that there have been no indications of the Bulls wanting to part ways with Vucevic, especially after re-signing him.

While Vucevic’s trade prospects look dim, another player who could be on the move is Andre Drummond. Johnson speculated that the Cleveland Cavaliers center could be available for a price, potentially a young player from another team’s rotation or some minor draft capital. It remains to be seen whether any team will meet the Cavaliers’ asking price.

As for the Bulls, they have reportedly not entertained any calls for guard Alex Caruso. Additionally, they are keen on bringing back DeMar DeRozan for the next season. However, their current standing in the Eastern Conference remains uncertain as they hold onto the ninth spot. With the trade deadline looming, the Bulls have opted to maintain their roster for the third consecutive year.

In conclusion, Vucevic’s trade market appears to be quiet, while Drummond’s availability raises questions. The Bulls, on the other hand, have chosen to keep Caruso and are focused on retaining DeRozan. As the trade deadline approaches, the team’s future remains uncertain. Stay tuned for more updates on the NBA and NFL from Josh Buckhalter.
