The new Suzuki Swift has won the “Car of the Year” award in Japan for the fourth time in the Japanese Automobile category.

This distinction, awarded by the “Japan Automotive Researchers and Journalists Conference” (RJC), which comprises a jury of 40 independent researchers and journalists from the automotive sector, highlighted that the new Swift “has improved its elegant design and sporty driving performance inherited from previous generations of this model”.

Additionally, the jury praised “the newly developed engine, class-leading aerodynamics, and the lightweight, high-rigidity body, as well as the adoption of the latest driver assistance systems”.

Remember that the Suzuki Swift, with over 9 million units sold worldwide, was renewed this year and that the fourth generation of the model debuts a hybrid solution, which combines a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with Mild-Hybrid 12V SHVS technology (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki). This system converts the kinetic energy generated during deceleration, stores it in a lithium-ion battery, and assists the engine during acceleration to achieve greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. This engine can be paired with a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic, and also with AllGrip Auto all-wheel drive.
