2025 Volkswagen Tiguan: Revamped SUV with More Power, High-Tech Upgrades, and Bold Style

Volkswagen has unveiled the third-generation Tiguan, set to hit dealerships for the 2025 model year. With an upgraded design, new tech, and improved performance, the Tiguan is stepping up its game to solidify its position as VW’s best-selling nameplate in the U.S. market. However, this time, it comes exclusively as a two-row SUV.

Engine Upgrade and Enhanced Capability

The 2025 Tiguan debuts with a more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged EA888 engine, generating 201 horsepower, up from 184 in the outgoing model. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it offers improved towing capacity—up to 1,800 pounds for 4Motion all-wheel-drive models, a notable increase from the previous 1,500 pounds.

Volkswagen hasn’t shared fuel economy figures yet but expects them to improve, thanks to the Tiguan shedding 170 pounds by incorporating aluminum into the suspension and body structure. These changes are aimed at delivering both better efficiency and a more dynamic driving experience.

Striking New Design on the MQB Evo Platform

Riding on the MQB Evo platform, the Tiguan has a fresh look that’s bound to appeal to American tastes. While the rear overhang is shorter, the overall size of the vehicle has increased, offering a more athletic and robust aesthetic. Key exterior design features include:

  • A sharp crease running along the body.
  • Squared-off wheel arches.
  • A rear spoiler for added flair.
  • 17-inch wheels as standard, with options for 19-inch and 20-inch upgrades.

Tech-Forward Interior with Larger Displays

Inside, the 2025 Tiguan gets a massive tech boost. A 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit is now standard across the lineup, alongside either a 12.9-inch infotainment display or an optional 15.0-inch screen. Standard features also include:

  • Two-zone Climatronic automatic climate control (upgradable to three-zone).
  • A redesigned center console with a physical volume knob and an integrated touch screen for drive modes and customizable “Atmospheres” that sync ambient lighting and audio.
  • Expanded storage with a 7.6-liter center console.

Buyers can also upgrade to a 12-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system for premium audio, while the wireless charging pad now offers 15 watts of power and includes a phone holder for secure charging.

Safety and Driver Assistance Features

The 2025 Tiguan includes a suite of safety features that reflect its family-friendly focus. Four additional airbags bring the total to 10, and the standard IQ.Drive suite offers advanced features like:

  • Forward collision warning.
  • Adaptive cruise control.
  • Lane-keeping assist.

Optional extras include a head-up display and adaptive front lighting, both of which enhance the driving experience.

Competitive Pricing Still a Mystery

While Volkswagen hasn’t revealed pricing for the 2025 Tiguan, the outgoing 2024 model starts at $30,305, including destination charges. Given the enhancements, a modest price increase is likely. With U.S. sales up 19% this year, the Tiguan continues to be a cornerstone of VW’s lineup, and the 2025 version seems poised to sustain that momentum.

The 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan is a clear indication of VW’s commitment to blending performance, technology, and practicality. With its bold redesign, advanced features, and improved powertrain, the new Tiguan is ready to compete in the ever-growing SUV market.
