Novo Abarth 600e: o Escorpião mais potente de sempre

Abarth will no longer produce any models solely with a combustion engine. This confirmation was recently made by Gaetano Thorel, the head of Fiat and Abarth in Europe.

The Scorpion brand, which launched its first 100% electric model, the 500e, in 2023, and this year the 600e, is now ruling out replacing the discontinued 595 and 695 with combustion models, all due to new CO2 emission regulations, which will lead the Italian brand to focus on producing electric models.

In an interview with “Autocar“, Gaetano Thorel argued that the costs of combustion models for consumers are increasingly high due to emission regulations, and he questioned whether “it is fair to offer customers an electric sports hatch that performs the same way, has the same level of fun, and equivalent performance? All for the same price? I think it is better to offer electric models.”

Thorel also dismissed the possibility of Abarth pursuing a hybrid version derived from the Fiat 500 Hybrid. “We need to remain true to the DNA of Abarth, and the engine that will equip the new 500 is a mild-hybrid engine that does not allow us to extract the necessary power for a true Abarth,” argued the head of Fiat and Abarth in Europe.
