Mazda Iconic SP vai avançar para produção

Mazda has unveiled to the world the Mazda Iconic SP, an impressive next-generation two-seater concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Now, Masashi Nakayama, General Director of the Design Division at Mazda Motor Corporation, has stated that the Iconic SP, “was conceived with the genuine intention of becoming a production model in the not-too-distant future”.

In terms of design, the Iconic SP emphasizes the minimization of character lines and the reduction of light play, aiming for a look that is both expressive and exciting.

The two-seater concept measures 4.18 meters in length, 1.85 m in width, and 1.15 m in height, with a wheelbase of 2.59 m.

The production version of the Iconic SP is expected to feature a powertrain consisting of an electric motor and a rotary engine, providing a total output of 370 hp.

Remember that Mazda’s innovative rotary engine is highly scalable, operating with fuels and generating electricity from carbon-neutral sources. Its compact dimensions also allow the Mazda Iconic SP to have a low-profile shape, similar to a mid-sized sports model, ensuring an exciting driving experience.

“The rotary engine can be very compact and very powerful at the same time”, said Naohito Saga, Executive Director of Strategic Planning and R&D at Mazda. “This is an advantage, but it can also be powered by various types of fuels, which could give us an edge in the race to find a viable solution for the future of mobility”, Saga concluded.
