Despite the swirling rumors in the Formula 1 paddock, Red Bull boss Christian Horner has put an end to speculation: Carlos Sainz will not be making a move to Red Bull for the 2025 season. With Sergio Perez’s seat reportedly under review due to inconsistent performances this season, fans have speculated about potential replacements, but Horner is clear that Sainz is not among the candidates.

“We hear a lot of speculation in the paddock,” Horner said to talkSPORT. “Carlos Sainz is going to be a Williams driver next year. He’s a great driver and recently had a big win in Mexico. I think he’ll be a fantastic fit for that team.”

Horner was seen at Williams’ hospitality area during the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend, which initially sparked rumors that Red Bull was considering Sainz for a return. However, Horner confirmed that his discussions with Williams boss James Vowles focused on other matters and not Sainz. Reports suggest that Red Bull is instead eyeing promising rookie Franco Colapinto for potential future roles.

For Sainz, who will officially join Williams next year, this decision comes as a result of a year-long pursuit from Vowles. Sainz shared his thoughts on the move, emphasizing Williams’ dedication to his career and future potential.

“Williams is the team that has truly invested in me, even before the news of Lewis Hamilton replacing me at Ferrari,” Sainz told Sky Sports F1. “They approached me a year ago, showing faith and belief in my abilities. I’m ready to give them my all and build something great together.”

Sainz’s move to Williams signals his commitment to a team that has shown significant trust in his potential. For Red Bull, the focus remains on assessing Perez’s future and exploring fresh talent to maintain their competitive edge into 2025.
