Rumors Swirl Around Lewis Hamilton’s Future with Mercedes due to Frustrations Over Brazilian GP Performance

After a disappointing weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton placed 11th in the sprint and 10th in the main race, rumors began circulating that the seven-time world champion might split from Mercedes sooner than expected. Following his struggles at Interlagos, Hamilton vented over the radio: “That was a disaster of a weekend, guys. The worst the car has ever been.”

In a statement that set tongues wagging, Hamilton added, “If this is the last time I get to perform, it was a shame it wasn’t great but (I am) grateful for you.” He later hinted to Sky Sports F1 that he would be content “to go and take a holiday” rather than complete the final three races of the season.

Despite his frustrations, Mercedes confirmed Wednesday that Hamilton would indeed compete in the last three races, which include Las Vegas on November 24, Qatar on December 1, and Abu Dhabi on December 8. Hamilton’s discontent with the current car setup isn’t new, but his raw post-race comments have fueled speculation about his long-term plans with Mercedes.

Currently sitting seventh in the drivers’ standings, Hamilton has managed two wins this year—at the British and Belgian Grands Prix. With a career total of 105 wins and championships spanning from 2008 to his last in 2020, Hamilton remains one of F1’s most decorated drivers. However, with Mercedes facing an uphill battle, Hamilton’s comments serve as a reminder of his high expectations and desire for a competitive car.

For now, Hamilton will see out the season, but fans and analysts alike are watching closely as rumors of potential shifts in his career continue to mount.
