Ferrari Shifts Focus to 2025 as Constructors’ Title Race Heats Up

Ferrari has been gaining momentum in the 2023 season, with stellar performances in recent races reigniting hopes for a long-awaited return to championship glory. Yet, as the season heads into its final stretch, Ferrari’s team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed that the team’s current car, the SF-24, will not receive any more upgrades. Instead, Ferrari is putting its resources into developing the 2025 car, a move that may impact their shot at the Constructors’ title.

Despite Ferrari’s success in the recent triple-header—scoring the most points overall, including two wins—the team remains 36 points behind McLaren. Ferrari’s decision to halt upgrades comes as a surprise to many fans, especially as the team’s recent progress has made a championship victory seem within reach for the first time in over 15 years.

“We have been focusing on next year’s project for months now. There is nothing more coming,” Vasseur stated, emphasizing Ferrari’s commitment to future growth. However, he insists that Ferrari will still give everything to fight for the title in the final three races, even without fresh updates.

This decision may provide some relief for McLaren, Ferrari’s closest competitor, yet the pressure remains high as the next round in Las Vegas is expected to favor Ferrari. McLaren has the advantage on paper with a faster car, but with no upgrades coming from Ferrari, a fierce stalemate has emerged between the two rivals.

Acknowledging the challenge ahead, Vasseur commented, “This weekend was a difficult one, but looking at this triple-header as a whole, we are still the team that has scored the most points, which is a good way to go into the final three races of the season. We will do our best to keep the fight open all the way to Abu Dhabi.”

Adding to the complexity, Red Bull is not far behind, closing the gap at the Brazilian GP thanks to a stellar performance by their drivers. With just 13 points separating them from Ferrari, Red Bull could become a serious threat in the Constructors’ Championship, making this season’s final races a three-way battle for glory.

As the F1 world prepares for the Las Vegas showdown, all eyes are on Ferrari, McLaren, and Red Bull to see who will emerge victorious in one of the most closely contested Constructors’ title races in recent memory.
