Concept Hyundai Initium antecipa o futuro SUV a hidrogénio

Hyundai has introduced the Initium concept, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered SUV that anticipates a production model the South Korean brand aims to unveil in the first half of 2025.

Hyundai revealed that this new hydrogen fuel cell SUV, Initium, derives its name from the Latin word meaning “beginning” or “first,” which the brand states represents Hyundai’s pioneering work to develop a hydrogen society.

The newly unveiled concept marks the debut of Hyundai Motor’s new design language – called ‘Art of Steel’ – which incorporates the character of HTWO, the business brand dedicated to the hydrogen value chain of the Hyundai Motor Group.

With a square design and a robust image, the Initium features bold lines and a solid structure, balancing ruggedness and sophistication. The 21’’ wheels complement the overall design, with roof rails that contribute to an outdoor lifestyle.

The exterior design appears to blend elements from the Ioniq 5 and the ICE-powered Santa Fe, with notable features including square LED graphics, pronounced skid plates, and a sloped rear window.

Hyundai has not revealed the interior of this Initium concept, but announced that it will be designed for families and will feature ample space, along with doors that open at an angle to facilitate passenger entry and exit.

The Hyundai Initium is equipped with an electric motor that produces 201 hp, a more powerful fuel cell system, a larger battery capacity, and large hydrogen tanks, which ensure a claimed range of 650 km.

Hyundai has not revealed additional specifications but announced that this fuel cell-powered concept can provide electricity without emitting pollutants. This electricity can be used to power and charge various small appliances and personal devices through Vehicle-to-Load (V2L).

The Initium concept will be presented to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which runs from November 22 to December 1, and at Auto Guangzhou in China, which will take place from November 15 to 18.
