The race intensified speculation around Perez’s future at Red Bull Racing, as Lawson, one of the potential contenders for his seat, held his ground in a heated duel, leaving Perez frustrated and questioning the rookie’s “attitude.”
Perez, struggling from a challenging qualifying session, started from a lowly 18th on the grid. Despite a five-second penalty for a false start, he was clawing his way up the field until he met resistance from Lawson’s AlphaTauri. Lawson made it clear he wasn’t going to simply step aside for the #11 Red Bull. The resulting clash left Perez with damage that compromised his car’s performance for the rest of the race, eventually relegating him to the back of the pack.
