Nyck de Vries, now racing for Mahindra Racing in the FIA Formula E Championship, has expressed strong support for the long-anticipated “Attack Charge” feature set to debut in Season 11. Speaking to the media during the unveiling of Mahindra’s new M11Electro car, de Vries emphasized the importance of thoroughly testing this innovative feature before its implementation.

Attack Charge, which aims to enhance Formula E’s unique approach to electric vehicle racing, has been in development for several seasons, with the first real glimpse of its potential scheduled for the pre-season test in Valencia on November 7th.

“When something like that is introduced in racing, I think it should be properly tested and robust,” de Vries said. “It’s a too professional championship to be rushing something that isn’t ready. I’m definitely for it because I think it makes sense and it’s relevant for what EV vehicles require in practical terms and in the real world.”

The Dutch driver also shared his excitement over Mahindra’s new M11Electro car, praising its design and highlighting the aesthetic and functional benefits of its carbon fiber elements. “I genuinely think it’s awesome. I really love it. The black elements of carbon are cool—it’s a bit of weight saving,” de Vries said.

As Mahindra prepares for Season 11 after a challenging Season 10, team principal Frederic Bertrand is optimistic about the future. He expressed confidence in de Vries and his teammate Edoardo Mortara, praising their experience and ability to work together constructively.

“They didn’t come here to shine individually,” Bertrand said. “What they were looking for was a spirit in which we can be part of building a project… They bring a high level of knowledge of high performance and that’s what we needed.”

Bertrand also pointed out that the duo’s experience in winning Formula E races adds a crucial element that the team was missing in the past. Their positive, constructive attitudes make them valuable assets as the team works to improve and rebuild after tough seasons.

With the Attack Charge feature set to bring fresh dynamics to Formula E and Mahindra’s renewed focus on growth and teamwork, Season 11 promises to be an exciting and pivotal year for the team and its drivers.
