Louis Deletraz Bids Farewell to Acura After Two-Year GTP Run, Eyes 2025 Future

Sparks fly from the rear of the No. 40 GTP Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06 of Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz under braking for Turn 12 during IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship qualifying Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

Louis Deletraz has officially announced his departure from Acura’s GTP program, ending a successful two-year stint that saw the Swiss driver race for Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti in the IMSA SportsCar Championship. Deletraz, who piloted the #40 Acura ARX-06 alongside co-drivers Jordan Taylor and Colton Herta, took to social media to confirm the news, expressing gratitude for his time with Acura and Honda.

Deletraz joined Acura’s GTP efforts in 2023 and quickly established himself as a key player in the team’s success. The highlight of his 2024 season came with a thrilling victory at the prestigious 12 Hours of Sebring, where he, Taylor, and Herta battled to a dramatic win. However, Deletraz’s involvement in IMSA this year extended beyond Acura, as he also drove AO Racing’s “Spike the Dragon” Oreca 07 in the LMP2 category at Mosport Park.

“As the 2024 season is over, I want to say a big thank you to Acura, HRC, and Honda for the last two and a half years together,” Deletraz shared in his post. “It was a pleasure to work with you, I met many great and talented people. Made lots of memories and I’m glad we collected some trophies and champagne together.”

Despite leaving the Acura camp, Deletraz’s 2024 season was marked by impressive performances beyond IMSA. He clinched his third European Le Mans Series title in the season finale at Portimao, partnering with Robert Kubica and Jonny Edgar. He also shined at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, securing pole position in the LMP2 category for AO Racing, although the team couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity in the race.

Now, all eyes are on what comes next for Deletraz in 2025. At just 27 years old, the Swiss driver has already amassed an impressive résumé across multiple endurance racing series, and his future plans are eagerly awaited by fans and teams alike.

“News about my future soon,” Deletraz teased, leaving the motorsport world to speculate on his next chapter. With proven success in both IMSA and European competitions, the talented driver is poised for another significant move in 2025.
