Carlos Sainz Delivers on Ferrari’s Promise with Strong Performance, Despite Missing Out on Victory- “I had to settle for 2nd place, which was still a good race overall”

Carlos Sainz kept his word, delivering a strong and aggressive performance for Ferrari during the latest race. While Ferrari’s task was made easier by the fierce battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen—opening a window of opportunity for teammate Charles Leclerc—Sainz found himself on the wrong side of the fight and missed the chance to capitalize.

Although disappointed with the start, Sainz expressed satisfaction with Ferrari’s overall performance and hopes the team’s current form carries through the remainder of the season.

“Congratulations to the whole team and to Charles for a fantastic result that puts us exactly where we want to be in the fight for the Constructors’ Championship. I knew a big part of the race would be decided at the start. I expected Lando and Max to come in strong at Turn 1, but unfortunately, I came off worse and couldn’t take the lead. Despite having a very strong pace right from the start, track position is crucial, and I had to settle for 2nd place, which was still a good race overall.”

Sainz also highlighted how much more he enjoys racing this year compared to last, thanks to Ferrari’s improved performance and strategy.

“There’s no doubt it’s the strength of the car this year, the length of the stints we can run, and the low degradation we experience. It’s something I really like, and it has made racing much more enjoyable for me this year than last. Last year, we spent every race defending and losing positions. This year, we can go on the attack, not worry too much about the tires, and just push and overtake, which is a lot of fun. I’m enjoying it a lot, and I hope it stays this way until the end of the year.”

Sainz remains optimistic about Ferrari’s chances as the team continues to push for strong finishes in the remaining races of the season.
