Verstappen Dominates US GP Sprint, Norris Slips Behind Sainz in Late Drama

Max Verstappen once again showcased his dominance in the 2024 Formula 1 season by cruising to victory in the Sprint race at the United States Grand Prix. Starting from pole position, the Red Bull driver maintained control from start to finish, extending his lead in the Drivers’ Championship and solidifying Red Bull’s superiority.

Lando Norris seemed set to secure a solid second place behind Verstappen, but a late-race error saw him fall into the clutches of Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. Seizing the opportunity, Sainz overtook Norris and secured the runner-up spot, leaving the McLaren driver to settle for third.

Charles Leclerc, driving the second Ferrari, followed in fourth after a steady but uneventful race. George Russell, who had started on the front row alongside Verstappen, slipped down the order to finish fifth, unable to match the pace of the leading trio.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton crossed the line in sixth, capping off a disappointing day for the Silver Arrows despite their hopes for better results after a strong qualifying showing.

The Haas team gave their home fans something to cheer about, with both of their drivers finishing in the points. Kevin Magnussen led his teammate Nico Hulkenberg, securing seventh and eighth, respectively, and rounding out the points-paying positions.

The Sprint race in Austin was packed with action and strategic battles throughout the field, setting the stage for a thrilling United States Grand Prix on Sunday.
