Bubba Wallace Steers Clear of 2024 Election Drama: “Waste of Time”

As the United States braces for the 2024 Presidential election, NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace has made it clear—he’s staying out of the political fray this time around. Known for his outspoken views during the last election cycle, especially his high-profile clash with former President Donald Trump over the infamous noose controversy, Wallace has opted for a different approach as the next election approaches.

In a recent interview, the 23XI Racing driver expressed his disinterest in engaging with political debates this year. When asked why, Wallace was blunt, calling the investment of time in politics a “waste.” He acknowledged being more vocal in 2020 but explained it was because NASCAR needed a cultural shift at that time.

“Investing my time into that seems like a waste of time,” Wallace stated. “I was definitely more vocal then because our sport was in desperate need of change.”

Despite not actively engaging in the political scene, Wallace still managed to inject some humor into the conversation when asked what message he had for fans regarding the election. Instead of pushing a political agenda, he cheekily promoted his sponsors McDonald’s and Dr. Pepper.

“Go to McDonald’s… Buy a meal, get the 10-piece chicken nugget, fries, Dr. Pepper, and then round up that money, all of that money goes to [Ronald McDonald House Charities],” Wallace quipped.

While distancing himself from political debates, Wallace did touch on his core beliefs, emphasizing humanity over politics. For the driver, the priority remains simple: being decent to others, no matter their background or beliefs.

“My beliefs stand strong in just being good humans to other people. No matter what side you’re on, no matter what color you are, at the end of the day, we’re in this world together and we have to make it work together,” Wallace said.

The NASCAR star’s comments make it clear—while some in the sport may be leaning into the political buzz, Wallace is fully focused on his racing career and family. He has no desire to engage in the divisive politics of the upcoming election and is steering clear of the drama surrounding it.

For Wallace, it’s all about racing and being a good human, leaving the political battles to others.
