BILLS GO ALL IN ON QB JOSH ALLEN WITH $22M MOVE

Bills GM Warns of Cap Constraints, Potential Moves to Create Space

Days after the Buffalo Bills’ playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, GM Brandon Beane issued a cautionary statement about the team’s offseason plans. Beane acknowledged that the Bills would not have much cap space to work with, limiting their ability to make significant moves. Instead, they will focus on strategic additions of low-cost players.

“We’re not going to Main Street in New York City or wherever those high-end stores are,” Beane said, emphasizing the need for frugality.

However, there is one move that could provide some breathing room for the Bills. According to insider Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic, restructuring quarterback Josh Allen’s contract could potentially save the team $22 million. While other moves will be optional, Buscaglia believes Allen’s contract restructure will be necessary due to the significant savings it would bring.

Allen’s current cap hit is $47.1 million, and he is signed with the Bills for the next five seasons. The team has no intentions of parting ways with Allen, making his contract a prime target for restructuring. By converting a portion of his base salary and roster bonus into a prorated signing bonus, the Bills could nearly halve their cap deficit.

Buscaglia noted that this move would result in the largest potential savings for the Bills this offseason. The team has previously restructured other contracts, and many have speculated that Allen’s turn was imminent.

While there are two other potential moves that could generate significant cap savings, Buscaglia believes the Bills are unlikely to pursue them. Edge rusher Von Miller and wide receiver Stefon Diggs could both have their contracts restructured, but the team is expected to maintain flexibility to address Diggs’ situation in 2025.

Overall, the Bills face a challenging offseason due to their limited cap space. However, by strategically restructuring contracts, they can create some much-needed breathing space.

In a shocking revelation, it has been suggested that keeping Miller on the roster for a longer period could only prolong the pain for the Bills. This bombshell comes from none other than Buscaglia, a renowned sports analyst. He believes that restructuring Miller’s deal could potentially yield a staggering $12 million in cap space this year alone. However, the catch is that the Bills would be committing to another year of a massive cap hit for a player who will be in his age-36 season in 2025. And let’s not forget about Miller’s lackluster performance in the past season.

Despite his underwhelming performance, it seems inevitable that Miller will be back with the Bills in 2024 due to various financial constraints. The combination of a massive cap hit, significant dead cap, and a vacant defensive end room leaves the Bills with no choice. However, the real dilemma lies in the 2025 offseason. If the Bills decide to keep Miller’s contract unchanged, they could potentially save a substantial $8.5 million on that year’s cap.

This revelation has left fans and analysts alike questioning the Bills’ decision-making process. Is it worth taking on such a hefty financial burden for a player whose production has been far from satisfactory? Only time will tell how this situation unfolds, but one thing is for sure – the Bills will have some tough choices to make in the coming years.
