“Renovated Citroën Ami gets a new look inspired by the 2CV.”

Renovado Citroën Ami ganha nova imagem inspirada no 2CV

Citroën has decided to refresh the Ami at a time when the quadricycle that revolutionized micromobility is celebrating its fourth anniversary and has attracted more than 65,000 customers.

Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the updated Ami, which can accommodate two people, is easy to handle and capable of reaching speeds of up to 45 km/h, with a range of 75 km, will evolve in the first half of 2025 into a new generation that arrives with a more mature face, thanks to sharper lines.

In this way, the refreshed Ami features headlights, surrounded by a black border that resembles eyelids, raised to the base of the windshield to provide a new, more expressive look. Positioned higher up, they provide a new balance and interpretation of the front end. These two headlights are connected by a new capsule engraved in the mold in the shape of a wide smile, reinforcing the cheerful side of the Ami.

The front of the new generation Ami is simpler and more defined. Below the windshield, an inclined section housing the capsule presents the new brand logo and leads to a vertical area.

Compared to the previous generation, the lower part of the bumper is less rounded and features a stronger, more sculpted style. The surface transitions are more pronounced, with sharper edges and closed shapes, which the brand claims resemble Lego blocks – and there are new graphic motifs on the side panels and wheel trims, designed to “attract the younger generation.”

The sloped area under the windshield also extends under the rear glass, giving dynamism to its silhouette and creating the impression of pushing the mass forward. This symmetry is also reflected in the doors and fenders, notably referencing the iconic 2CV, with molded grooves in the shape of the right front fender and the left rear fender.

The powertrain of the updated quadricycle from Citroën has not changed and continues to feature an electric motor that delivers a power output of 8.2 hp, powered by a 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery, which is positioned horizontally under the dashboard to maximize cabin space.

To celebrate the unveiling of the new generation of the Ami, Citroën’s designers created a radical version of the small quadricycle, the Ami Buggy Vision, a style exercise of total freedom.

Without doors and with a roof open to the four winds, this Ami Buggy Vision is equipped with a rack to carry a kitesurf board and a special compartment to store the sail.

The brand has not revealed any intention to bring this Ami Buggy Vision to production, but it is worth noting that the last concept of the small quadricycle, the Ami Buggy, did make it to production, evolving into a special and limited edition of the Ami.
