VW investe cerca de €5 mil milhões numa joint venture com a Rivian

Rivian, the American electric vehicle brand, announced that it has revised down its production numbers for 2024, after delivering 10,018 units in the third quarter. This figure reflects a sharp decline of 27% compared to the 13,790 vehicles delivered in the second quarter and the 13,588 units achieved in the first quarter of the year.

The decision now revealed is justified by the lack of essential components for the production of its electric models, a situation that has worsened in recent weeks.

“The impact of the supply shortage began in the third quarter of this year, became more severe in recent weeks, and continues”, said Rivian. “As a result of the supply shortage, Rivian has revised its annual production numbers to be between 47,000 and 49,000 units.”

It should be noted that Rivian had initially projected an annual production of 57,000 vehicles for 2024, the same number it achieved in 2023.

However, the American brand’s expectation to turn the situation around is focused on upcoming models, as the R2 is set to launch in 2026. With it, the brand aims to significantly increase production in the next two years, while the R3 and R3X are expected to be launched later.

The new R2 will join a range that currently includes the R1T pickup, the R1S SUV, and a commercial vehicle intended for “Amazon”.
