IndyCar Revving Up for 2026 Arlington Street Race: A High-Speed Spectacle Through Texas’ Iconic Sports District

The NTT IndyCar Series is heading to Arlington, Texas, for an electrifying new street race set to roar through the city’s core sports and entertainment district in March 2026. This event will see IndyCars racing past some of the state’s most iconic venues, including the Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium and the Texas Rangers’ Globe Life Field, promising an adrenaline-fueled spectacle unlike anything seen before in the region.

A New Era for IndyCar in Texas

Spanning a 2.73-mile circuit, the Arlington street race will be launched in the same month as IndyCar’s traditional season opener at St. Petersburg, Florida. The track will wind through Arlington’s entertainment hub, an area that draws more than 1.6 million spectators annually for events ranging from NFL and MLB games to concerts and shows.

The concept of a Dallas-area street race has been simmering since the mid-2010s, initially centered around the Rangers’ stadium. However, with the enthusiastic involvement of key figures such as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, and REV Entertainment, the vision has expanded into a marquee event that will elevate the city’s entertainment district to a global stage.

Jerry Jones: “A Unique Racing Experience”

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, a driving force behind the event, expressed his excitement. “We are thrilled to join forces with the Texas Rangers, Penske Entertainment, and the City of Arlington to bring Grand Prix racing to the streets of the Arlington Entertainment District,” Jones said. “This collaboration will provide a unique NTT IndyCar Series race experience for fans and showcase our district to viewers worldwide. It’s a reflection of the vision we had over 15 years ago when we imagined AT&T Stadium’s potential.”

Rangers’ Neil Liebman Sees History in the Making

Echoing Jones’s enthusiasm, Rangers COO Neil Liebman hailed the partnership as a milestone moment for the Arlington Entertainment District. “Today is a historic day for the Texas Rangers and REV Entertainment. We’re proud to be at the forefront of the IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington alongside Penske Entertainment and the Dallas Cowboys. This event will set a new standard for the district, and we can’t wait to welcome fans from around the world.”

Roger Penske: “Racing’s Next Global Spectacle”

IndyCar Series owner Roger Penske is betting big on the Arlington street race, confident it will be a major hit. “Through a truly remarkable and innovative partnership, we’re going to build racing’s next global spectacle,” he said. Penske praised the collaboration with the Cowboys, Rangers, and REV Entertainment, as well as Arlington’s leadership, for their commitment to delivering an “incredible and unique event weekend.”

IndyCar’s Long-Running Legacy in Texas

IndyCar’s history in Texas stretches back to the 1970s, featuring a mix of oval, road course, and street races over the decades. The series’ last street race in the state was the Houston Grand Prix, which ran until 2014, while its most recent event in Texas took place at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth in 2023. The Arlington race signifies IndyCar’s renewed push to bring fans a thrilling street race experience in one of Texas’s most vibrant and dynamic locales.

A Global Showcase for Arlington

The 2026 IndyCar Grand Prix of Arlington promises to be more than just a race; it’s set to be a celebration of the city’s growth as a sports and entertainment hub. With the involvement of two of Texas’ biggest sports franchises and Penske’s commitment to making this race a flagship event, fans can expect a high-speed weekend filled with spectacle, excitement, and world-class racing.

This event will not only amplify Arlington’s profile on the global motorsport stage but also reinforce the region’s status as a premier destination for entertainment, bringing in fans from across the globe to witness the next chapter in IndyCar’s storied history in Texas.
