Lando Norris Crushes Verstappen at Dutch GP as McLaren Outpaces Red Bull in Stunning Turnaround – “I thought Verstappen would be quicker”

Lando Norris has issued a clear warning to his McLaren team as they ride the wave of dominance in the 2024 Formula 1 season. Despite McLaren’s impressive performance that has seen them surge to a 41-point lead over Red Bull in the Constructors’ Championship, Norris cautioned his team against becoming too relaxed, with Max Verstappen and Red Bull still in the hunt.

While McLaren has clearly capitalized on Red Bull’s dip in form, Norris is fully aware of the challenge that still lies ahead. The 24-year-old acknowledged that McLaren’s 2024 season has been nothing short of phenomenal, but emphasized the importance of staying sharp and focused, especially against such a formidable rival.

“We’re doing well at the minute. I want to keep going! Screw the break, let’s go straight to Austin,” said Norris, expressing his frustration at the three-week gap between races. “The team are doing an amazing job but we’re up against Red Bull. People keep writing them off too quickly and too easily.”

Norris made it clear that despite McLaren’s current position, Red Bull and Max Verstappen, the reigning champions who have dominated F1 in recent years, are not to be underestimated. The Briton noted that Red Bull’s experience and resilience mean they are still a significant threat in the championship battle.

“When you’re up against Red Bull, you’re up against Max. They have dominated the sport for the past several years. They are tough competition,” Norris warned. “I feel like people relax too much. When you’ve got Max and Red Bull behind you, pushing? They will do whatever they can.”

With Red Bull working hard to recover their lost pace through upgrades, Norris knows McLaren can’t afford to drop their guard. While McLaren may be leading now, Norris believes that Red Bull will be back in the fight soon, urging his team to maintain their hard work and relentless focus.

“I am happy, but we need to keep working hard because I’m sure Red Bull will catch up. I want my races to be nice and easy!” Norris quipped.

As McLaren fights to maintain their position at the top of the standings, Norris’ message is clear: the battle is far from over. With six races remaining, the competition is fierce, and McLaren must keep pushing if they are to stay ahead of the charging Red Bull team.
