Charles Leclerc on Hamilton’s Move to Ferrari: “He Doesn’t Need My Advice”

Charles Leclerc is bullish about Ferrari’s chances of mounting a serious Formula 1 title challenge in 2025, as he sees “a lot of gains” from the team’s recent upgrades. With Ferrari currently third in the Constructors’ Championship under team principal Frederic Vasseur’s leadership, Leclerc believes the Italian squad is on the right trajectory after a mixed but productive season.

Ferrari’s revamped SF-24 has shown greater race pace and fewer erratic tendencies compared to its predecessor, helping Leclerc secure pivotal victories, including his emotional wins at Monaco and Monza. However, the season has been a rollercoaster, marked by a mid-season dip in performance following a misjudged floor update at the Spanish Grand Prix, which caused the car to struggle with bouncing.

“It’s been a season that, emotionally speaking, was really contrasting,” Leclerc shared. “We went through a time where we had to experience things with the set-up. It was very difficult to drive, and it was tough to get back to form. But the highs, like winning at Monaco and Monza, were incredible.”

Leclerc’s return to form in recent races has been notable, outperforming teammate Carlos Sainz in six consecutive races and securing three podium finishes, including his home victory at Monza. As Ferrari heads into the latter stages of the season, Leclerc remains optimistic about the team’s progress, particularly with its newest floor design, which he believes has yet to reveal its full potential.

“We are seeing quite a lot of gains,” Leclerc said, emphasizing that more time is needed to implement the updates. Looking ahead to 2025, he firmly believes that Ferrari’s recent resurgence, combined with Lewis Hamilton’s anticipated arrival, positions the team for a realistic title push. When asked if 2025 could see Ferrari seriously challenge for the championship, Leclerc confidently responded: “Yes, it is.”

Leclerc also expressed confidence in Ferrari’s longer-term prospects, noting that improvements are part of a continuous process. He expects the team to keep progressing with each passing year, aiming for even stronger performances in 2026 and 2027 as they refine their car and strategies.

“I have zero doubts that we will make a step forward next year and another one the year after,” Leclerc concluded, suggesting that Ferrari’s future is looking increasingly promising as they set their sights on ending their long title drought.

With momentum building and upgrades in the pipeline, Ferrari fans will be watching closely to see if the Scuderia can transform these gains into a full-fledged championship run.
