Alpine left Formula 1 but they are Set to Unleash Electric Power with High-Performance Supercar, Shifting Gears to the Future

While the Alpine A110, a lightweight sports car adored for its no-nonsense driving experience, remains tantalizingly out of reach for the American market, the brand is shifting into overdrive with plans for an electrifying future. Alpine, the French automaker renowned for its racing pedigree and agility, is working on something far more potent than its Porsche Cayman-rivaling A110. According to recent reports, the upcoming model—dubbed the “Future Alpine Supercar”—promises to bring serious horsepower, but with a twist: it’s likely going electric.

The company’s latest initiative includes the opening of a cutting-edge R&D center at its Formula 1 engine production facility in Viry-Châtillon, called “Hypertech Alpine.” This center will be dedicated to the brand’s electric ambitions, including innovations in solid-state battery technology and ultra-efficient electric motors.

Philippe Krief, Alpine’s CEO, emphasized the importance of the new facility: “Creating this Hypertech Alpine center is key to Alpine’s development strategy… ensuring the continuity of savoir-faire and the inclusion of its rare skills in the group’s ambitious future while strengthening Alpine’s position as an ‘innovation garage.'”

This new Alpine supercar, rumored to take design cues from the radical Alpenglow Hy4 concept, will likely feature state-of-the-art solid-state batteries developed for extreme performance. These batteries will pair with next-gen electric motors developed in collaboration with Ampere, Renault’s EV and software sub-brand. The combination is expected to offer extreme efficiency, pushing the boundaries of electric performance.

While Alpine hasn’t confirmed if the supercar will be fully electric, the signs are pointing heavily in that direction. With an electric version of the beloved A110 on the horizon and breakthroughs in battery technology, the company is expected to make its mark in the high-performance EV space. And though the days of Alpine’s Formula 1 engines may be numbered after 2025, fans are left wondering—could one of those race-bred power units make its way into a future road-going beast?

In any case, the Future Alpine Supercar is shaping up to be a significant leap for the brand, pushing forward its electric ambitions while paying homage to its racing roots. The coming years promise to deliver an Alpine unlike anything we’ve seen before, merging performance with electrification. Stay tuned—this is one electric revolution that gearheads won’t want to miss.
