Fernando Alonso Eyes a Third World Title as He Extends Aston Martin Stint

Fernando Alonso, a name synonymous with Formula 1 greatness, has been at the forefront of the sport since 2001, and at 43 years old, the two-time world champion is showing no signs of slowing down. The veteran driver, contracted with Aston Martin until the end of 2026, has made his intentions clear: he is fully committed to claiming a long-awaited third F1 world championship in the next two to three years.

Alonso, who last tasted championship glory in 2006 with Renault, has faced a title drought for nearly two decades, but his hunger remains as strong as ever. Speaking about his future in F1, Alonso stated, “At the moment, it’s not in my plans to leave the ‘Big Circus.’ I’m very, very focused on Formula 1 now. Over the next two or three years, I want to win a third world title. That’s my first and only priority at the moment.”

His ambition is unwavering, and despite his age, Alonso continues to be regarded as one of the most skilled drivers on the grid. As he looks ahead, Alonso is keeping his options open beyond 2026, suggesting that if his performance remains sharp, he may even extend his racing career into his mid-40s. “Because I’ll be 45, 46, we’ll see how I am when the time comes,” he said, hinting at a potential continuation in F1 if the stars align.

The 2023 season was a strong one for Alonso, where he secured eight podium finishes and amassed 206 points, earning him a fourth-place finish in the championship. However, the 2024 campaign has proven more challenging, largely due to Aston Martin’s struggles with the development of the AMR24. Despite the dip in form, Alonso remains optimistic, especially with the team securing key assets and resources for the 2025 season and beyond.

As Alonso gears up for the next chapter of his F1 career, the world will be watching to see if the Spanish legend can finally capture that elusive third title, cementing his legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats.
