The FIA World Council which took place in Geneva yesterday determined several changes in nomenclature and designation in the disciplines of off-road rallies under the authority of the entity.

Changes made in conjunction between the promoter of the Rally-Raid World Championship (W2RC), A.S.O., and the Off-Road Rally Commission will come into effect next year. Designations of disciplines, events, and cups are changed, as well as vehicle groups.

The allocation of points for the Off-Road Rally World Championship and the World and Regional Off-Road Baja Cups was also reviewed. These aim to allow teams that retire to keep the bonus points in the stages, encouraging continuity in the respective championship. On the other hand, the rules for the starting order for the following stages have been modified so that the top T1s start ahead every morning. This aims to improve safety, taking into account the higher speed they have.

Revised names of disciplines and events:
Off-Road Event -> Off-Road Rally
Off-Road Baja -> Baja
Off-Road Rally -> Rally-Raid
Off-Road Marathon Rally -> Marathon Rally-Raid

Revised names of the World and Regional Baja Cups:
World Cup for Off-Road Bajas -> World Baja Cup
European Cup for Off-Road Bajas -> European Baja Cup
Middle East Cup for Off-Road Bajas -> Middle East Baja Cup

Revised names of vehicle groups:
T1 -> Ultimate
T2 -> Stock
T3 -> Challenger
T4 -> SSV
T5 -> Trucks
