The Washington Commanders Endure Another Losing Season, Owner Makes Changes
The Washington Commanders had a disappointing season in 2023, prompting team owner Josh Harris to take a closer look at the organization. Once the regular season concluded, Harris wasted no time in making significant changes. Former general manager Martin Mayhew was reassigned, and head coach Ron Rivera was fired.
In their search for a new general manager, the Commanders hired Adam Peters, a move that left the head coaching position as their top priority. After conducting thorough interviews with numerous candidates, Washington ultimately selected Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, to lead their team.
Harris expressed his satisfaction with the hiring in an official statement, as reported by Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. “My partners and I were determined to bring in top-notch individuals to shape the future of Commanders football, and I believe we have achieved that goal. First with Adam Peters and now with the highly respected Dan Quinn as our head coach,” said Harris.
Quinn had been a sought-after candidate by multiple teams during the hiring process, but he ultimately chose Washington after weeks of speculation. With some talented players already on the defensive side of the field, the Commanders will look to strengthen their roster further through the upcoming draft and free agency.
