Cupra anuncia arranque da produção do Terramar

Cupra has announced the start of production for the Terramar, one of the most anticipated models of the year, marking the farewell to combustion engines from the Barcelona brand.

The new Cupra SUV is produced at the Audi factory in Győr, Hungary, in collaboration between the two companies that dates back to 2011, when the Seat factory in Martorell began production of the Audi Q3. Now, with the production of the new sporty SUV from Cupra, the Győr factory becomes the first Audi facility to produce vehicles from another brand.

It is already known that the new Terramar combines the possibilities of combustion engines with electrified engines, offering a range full of options that allow the driver to choose the one that best suits their needs.

Five different propulsion systems encompass three technologies. The TSI (gasoline), eTSI (Mild Hybrid), and e-Hybrid (plug-in hybrid) engines provide a range of power outputs from 150 hp to 272 hp, with all powertrains equipped with a DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.

In this way, access to the range is made through an eTSI engine that combines the efficiency of 48V Mild Hybrid technology with the 1.5 TSI gasoline engine producing 150 hp, exclusively paired with the 7-speed DSG transmission. The hybrid technology consists of a generator and a 48V lithium-ion battery.

The plug-in hybrid version comes with two power levels, one with 204 hp and another with 272 hp, the VZ version. Thus, this variant utilizes a 1.5 TSI engine combined with an electric motor and a 19.7 kWh capacity battery, allowing the new Cupra Terramar an all-electric range of over 100 km. The battery can be charged at fast charging stations up to 50 kW (DC) or through an 11 kW Wallbox.

The gasoline version is equipped with a 2.0-liter engine, offering either 240 hp or 265 hp. Both variants are equipped with 4Drive all-wheel drive.

Additionally, Cupra announced a limited edition of the new model, the Terramar America’s Cup, which will have a limited production of 1,337 units,
