Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc Fumes Over Strategy Chaos in Singapore as Team Orders Calm Nerves

Charles Leclerc, known for his recent impressive performances, faced a challenging and frustrating Singapore Grand Prix after a disappointing qualifying session and a race strategy that left him on edge. Despite showing strong form and dominating Thursday’s practice sessions alongside McLaren’s Lando Norris, Leclerc’s weekend unraveled when his qualifying lap was deleted after running over a kerb, relegating him to a P9 start.

The race began on a sour note for the Monegasque driver, who found himself battling from the mid-pack rather than competing at the front. Ferrari’s race strategy, which involved a painfully long first stint, only added to Leclerc’s frustration. Over team radio, he vented his annoyance, questioning how long he would be forced to continue with the plan that was clearly not working in his favor.

Ferrari’s strategy call, which aimed to keep Leclerc out longer in an attempt to capitalize later in the race, pushed the young driver to his limits. His race engineer urged him to stay focused and keep his composure, knowing that letting emotions get the better of him could compromise his performance further. Despite his irritation, Leclerc managed to keep his head down, trusting the team’s call as he navigated through traffic and climbed the order.

Leclerc’s persistence paid off as he surged through the pack, setting the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:35.639 and catching up to the top contenders. His engineer continued to push him to maintain the pace, encouraging him that his efforts would eventually pay off against rivals ahead.

By lap 56, Leclerc had clawed his way into the Top 5, showcasing his exceptional overtaking skills and the competitive pace of the SF24. Despite starting from P9 and facing early setbacks, Leclerc’s determination and Ferrari’s improved pace allowed him to finish strongly, overtaking Hamilton and others to secure valuable points.

The weekend highlighted not only Leclerc’s driving prowess under pressure but also the SF24’s potential in race conditions, as Ferrari continues to refine their strategy calls. Although frustration lingered over what could have been, Leclerc’s resilience and Ferrari’s late-race pace demonstrated they remain a formidable force, capable of battling at the front as the championship race tightens.
