The performances below the possibilities of the Aston Martin car by Lance Stroll have motivated a series of criticisms towards the driver – who has been looked at sideways by many since the beginning of his career, considering the strong financial support from his father, Lawrence Stroll.
Recently, a correspondent from AutoHebdo even criticized an ‘unjustified duration of the contract’ – questioning whether the billionaire should prioritize the team’s future. On the other hand, Yuki Tsunoda has been pointed out as his replacement in the future, and the newspaper Ekstra Bladet suggests that the consortium led by Lawrence Stroll, which owns Aston Martin, will witness the cost of the ‘unrealistic dream’ of making Lance Stroll the Formula 1 world champion.
Now, Lawrence Stroll did not remain silent and came to defend Lance in statements to Sky Sports F1, attributing the blame… to bad luck: ‘He had a lot of bad luck in 2023, with two fractured wrists at the beginning. But he did a heroic job – and had an unfortunate amount of bad luck. He had nine retirements due to engine failures or a rear wing failure. Half of the races had nothing to do with his abilities, he simply had a lot of bad luck, unfortunately’.
