Ferrari showcased moments of brilliance at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, but the final results didn’t align with their early promise. Charles Leclerc, starting from pole position, fought valiantly but was ultimately beaten to the top spot, finishing second. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz was on track for a podium finish before a dramatic crash on the penultimate lap robbed Ferrari of crucial points.

Despite the setbacks, Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur remains optimistic about the team’s prospects for the 2024 season. Vasseur expressed confidence that Ferrari is still in the hunt for pole positions and victories, emphasizing that there are still over 300 points available in the remaining seven races.

Vasseur acknowledged the tough competition and the significant challenge ahead, admitting that the remaining races will be a “long struggle” with the team’s rivals gaining momentum. Despite Leclerc’s strong performance in Baku, Vasseur pointed out that circumstances were not entirely favorable for Ferrari, as Sainz’s late-race incident cost them what could have been a double podium.

Baku has historically been a strong track for Ferrari, with the team securing victory there in 2023. Vasseur stressed the importance of capitalizing on the team’s strengths and gathering maximum points in the upcoming races. His focus now is on delivering consistent results and keeping Ferrari in the fight for both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships.

With seven races left and the top four teams all vying for the Constructors’ Championship, Vasseur remains hopeful that Ferrari can still contend for the world title. As the season enters its final phase, the battle for the championship is far from over, and Ferrari’s resurgence could still play a pivotal role in the outcome.
