Lego has once again collaborated with McLaren to create a model of the famous hypercar P1, this time at full scale, which has already driven on the Silverstone circuit in the United Kingdom, with Formula 1 driver Lando Norris behind the wheel.
Lego required more than pieces of Lego Technic to assemble this plastic P1, which measures 4.98 meters in length, 2.10 meters in width, 1.13 meters in height, and weighs 1220 kg.
Built by a team of 23 engineers from Lego and McLaren, the P1 took over 8,000 hours to develop and required 393 different types of Technic pieces, including 11 custom pieces made exclusively for this project.
This Lego version of the P1 features fully functional steering and is powered by Technic batteries along with a battery used in electric cars, which supplies energy to a Lego Technic motor consisting of 8 motor packs, each containing 96 Lego Power function motors. This means the car has a total of 768 Lego motors. The 8 motor packs reference the V8 of the original McLaren P1.
In terms of speed, this Lego McLaren P1 is far from achieving the dynamics of the real hypercar; however, it is possible to drive this Lego model and reach speeds of up to 65 km/h.
