DESPITE DISAPPOINTING SEASON, DEVONTA SMITH STAYS FOCUSED

In a shocking turn of events, the Philadelphia Eagles’ season came to an abrupt end during the NFC Wild Card game. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who has been with the team for three years, has been facing a lot of changes lately. Not only did his college coach, Nick Saban, retire, but the team also made changes to its offensive and defensive coordinators. However, despite all the upheaval, Smith remains level-headed.

When asked about Saban’s retirement, Smith, sporting an Alabama Crimson Tide long sleeve, expressed his surprise. “It was shocking. We knew the time was going to come, but we didn’t know it was going to come that soon. Pretty much, we knew it was going to come eventually; he was getting up there in age, and times are changing. Players are changing.”

Smith’s comments about changing times resonate with the recent discussions surrounding Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) in college sports. In a recent article by NBC’s Karris Harmon, college coaches speculated that NIL could have been a factor in Saban’s retirement. Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville suggested that the new generation of athletes and the introduction of NIL are reshaping college sports. “I tell you it’s going to get a lot more people. This NIL is a detriment to college sports,” Tuberville stated.

While Smith didn’t go as far as Tuberville, he did imply that times are changing. Saban himself shared a story about a player who asked for half a million dollars to help his girlfriend get into law school. It’s clear that the landscape of college athletics has evolved significantly since Saban began his coaching career in 1990.

But the changes don’t stop there for Smith. After the Eagles’ disappointing season, the team made another significant move by hiring Kellen Moore as their new offensive coordinator. Moore, who previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Chargers and Cowboys, brings a fresh perspective to the team.

With all these changes swirling around him, Smith remains focused and determined. Despite the setbacks, he continues to approach the game with a level head and a strong work ethic. As the Eagles regroup and prepare for the next season, Smith’s resilience will undoubtedly be a key asset for the team.

MOORE STRUGGLES IN LAST TWO SEASONS

Former Cowboys and Chargers player, Kellen Moore, has had a rough couple of seasons due to injuries. However, despite some criticism, there are those who are excited about the change. Sports Illustrated’s John McMullen believes that the Philadelphia Eagles made a smart move by hiring Moore as their new Offensive Coordinator. McMullen stated, “The Eagles hired a new OC in Kellen Moore who just happens to specialize in what Nick Sirianni didn’t.”

SMITH REMAINS UNFAZED BY COACHING CHANGES

Wide receiver DeVonta Smith is taking the coaching changes in stride. He sees it as just another day at the office. Smith believes that football is football, regardless of who is in charge. He explains, “Everybody runs the same things. They just call it something different. So, the biggest thing will just be getting used to the new terminology.”

SMITH’S HUMOROUS REQUEST FOR THE NEW OC

During an appearance on the Up and Adams Show, DeVonta Smith, along with fellow Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, shared his “one wish” for the team’s new Offensive Coordinator, Kellen Moore. Smith jokingly requested, “Just let us do what we do. Like anybody else would say. Just get us the ball.”

The Philadelphia Eagles have high hopes for their new Offensive Coordinator, Kellen Moore. Despite his recent struggles, Moore’s specialization in certain areas has generated enthusiasm among some. DeVonta Smith remains unfazed by the coaching changes and believes that football is football, regardless of who is calling the shots. Smith’s humorous request for Moore is to simply let the wide receivers do what they do best and get them the ball.

In an exclusive interview, Smith, a prominent NFL player, revealed his pick for the player to watch in the upcoming big game. According to Smith, 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has had an outstanding year and has truly stood out among his peers. Smith believes that Aiyuk will be the one to keep an eye on during the game.

Despite the ups and downs of the Eagles’ season in 2023, Smith understands the importance of maintaining a consistent work ethic. He firmly believes that this is the key to achieving success in his career. Smith remains focused on his goals and is determined to give his best effort in every game.

When questioned about a controversial quote that circulated in the media, where he expressed his unhappiness, Smith brushed it off. He emphasized that the past year’s events have no bearing on the upcoming season. Smith is always excited for new opportunities and is eager to prove himself on the field.

Although Smith received fewer targets this year, he has managed to improve his efficiency throughout his three years in the NFL. When asked about his growth, Smith credits his dedication to training and maintaining his physical health. He believes that his hard work during the week translates into better performance on game day.

Smith’s commitment to excellence extends beyond the football field. During the offseason, he enjoys spending time with his family and supporting the clothing brand VRST. Smith is a partner of VRST, a modern minimalist clothing line available exclusively at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Just like Smith’s versatility on the field, VRST’s designs are sophisticated and suitable for various occasions.

Smith personally recommends VRST’s Icon Tee, praising its comfortable fabric. He believes that comfort is essential, whether you’re lounging at home, going to work, or engaging in a workout. VRST offers a range of products, including the All-In Short, Pinnacle Fleece Hoodie, and Jogger, all available on Dick’s Sporting Goods’ website.
