Maserati Quattroporte: berlina desportiva de luxo comemora 60 anos

It was on October 30, 1963, at the Turin Motor Show, that Maserati unveiled the Quattroporte, a luxury sports sedan that celebrates 60 years and is one of the most iconic models of the Modena brand.

Born as a result of the intuition and audacity that are always part of the greatest dreams, the first generation Quattroporte was a pioneer, with its powerful 8-cylinder racing-derived engine, reinforced by a dynamic yet elegant design, and an interior refinement that was second to none.

Over its six decades of production, Maserati has produced 75,000 Quattroporte units, which have undergone various style and technical evolutions, allowing it to successfully write its history.

Positioned over the years as a moving living room, as a limousine with a competitive spirit – the original model equipped with an eight-cylinder engine could reach a top speed of 230 km/h – as a majestic automobile, due to its extremely welcoming space, its regal charm, and its perfection as a representation vehicle, the Quattroporte has always been accustomed to the spotlight, since it was destined to generate a fortunate lineage of cars that still have the ability to surprise today.

In addition, the Maserati Quattroporte is the guardian of the talent of those who have worked on the project over the years – Frua drew the initial curvature, followed by other heavyweight names such as Bertone, Giugiaro, Gandini, and Pininfarina, until the Maserati Centro Stile, the home where the most recent and current generation of the Quattroporte was created.

Whether as an absolute novelty that broke the serenity of its time, as it was when it was born; a more daring, and less memorable attempt, as in the second generation; a resounding success – the Quattroporte III, in the hands of De Tomaso; a new challenge completely overcome, at the end of the intense 1990s; a model that cut ties with the past, while remaining faithful to its winning formula, as happened with the multi-award-winning 2003 generation; or the one that returns to the stage in its most modern version, so many years later, after all the restyling, engineering progress, changes in corporate structure and countless units produced, the quintessential sedan has maintained its powerful approach to exclusivity, above all else.

The Maserati Quattroporte still holds in its long history, the presence in more than 60 film productions, in addition to being photographed on red carpets, or accompanying the highest dignitaries at solemn events, and the most significant VIPs in the industry. Sixty years later, and after having traveled countless kilometers, it continues its journey as an undisputed star of its time.

“The Quattroporte is the history of Maserati. A car that tells our story and represents us for over half a century in a prestigious way in the world of sedans. Since 1963, it has been the chronicle of the evolution of one of the most loved and appreciated models, inaugurating a segment that, until then, was unknown and unexplored territory. A car that has successfully reinvented itself, without ever losing its identity, to adapt to the passage of time, changes in society, advances in technology and industry, and trends, and that has become the choice of our most selective clientele, as well as the world of entertainment and major international figures,” emphasized Davide Grasso, CEO of Maserati.
